Dish of the Week: L’Inimitabile Gelato at Amorino
When it’s blazing hot outside, dairy is typically the last thing one wants to eat. Who craves a huge hunk of cheese when it’s 95 degrees in the shade? Yet, thanks to some mystical Italian alchemy, we rush to eat massive portions of full-fat gelato at places like Amorino in the Shops at Buckhead.
Any ice cream is good in Atlanta during the summer, simply because it’s served cold, but Amorino’s gelato stands out for its depth of flavor. There are summer specialties, like the organic blackcurrant sorbet, which is tart and refreshing in addition to being a beautiful color of purple that looks almost black.
Then, there’s L’Inimitabile, a rich gelato that expertly mimics the hazelnut and chocolate flavors of Nutella.
