Once again, I was very busy for the AJC’s semi-annual dining guide, but several of my assignments put dishes in front of me that I’ve been wanting to try for a long time. This ramen story by Wyatt Williams was particularly rewarding.
I’ve had my eye on the Southern Ramen Bowl at BoccaLupo for quite a while, but never had the chance to try it. Likewise, my mom has recommended the Southern take on ramen at Southbound for a few months now. I got to eat both thanks to this story.
These ramen bowls are more different than you’d expect, and each one is good, including the version at Beetlecat. But I agree with Wyatt’s take – the bowl at BoccaLupo is something special. Probably an “essential” Atlanta dish, if you care about those kinds of proclamations.
